Manthra Dei - Manthra Dei ep (2010)

I Manthra Dei provengono dal bresciano e ci propongono due lunghe cavalcate psichedeliche, come se avessero registrato 35 anni addietro. Psychedelia in chiave pentatonale senza compromessi di sorta. Il primo pezzo, Der Waldgung dura circa 18 minuti durante i quali la song presenta varie sfaccettature, prima più heavy, poi più ritmate dove il basso suona con un piacevole feel seventies, anche se a volte in modo approssimativo e ripetitivo. Al di sopra del tessuto intrecciato dalla base ritmica la chitarra lavora continuamente come a produrre un discorso ininterrotto ma già sentito. Dimenticavo di accennare che la band non ha una voce, i pezzi sono strumentali. Durante lo svolgimento del pezzo gli strumenti appaiono slegati tra loro, incerti sul tempo e sulla sua divisione anche se il feel prodotto non è così male. Verso il 12mo minuto la song si adagia ad un rilassamento con interventi space ormai divenuti qualsi un super-classico tra le band che respirano queste arie. Il secondo pezzo, The Mute Machine apre con una chitarra in versione wha seventies come ne abbiamo sentite 14 mila. Dopo un minuto la song, che ricalca sostanzialmente gli stilemi già incontrati nella precedente, sembra già finita, invece dura oltre i 18 minuti. In sostanza, oltre 30 minuti di musica piacevole, trita e ritrita, suonata con eccessiva approssimazione (e con una qualità di produzione da rivedere) che non porta da nessuna parte, a differenza di quello che invece succede con gli svedesi Hills, ad esempio.

The first piece, Der Waldgung takes about 18 minutes during which the song has several facets, the first heavier, more rhythmic, where the bass plays with a nice seventies feel, even if roughly and sometimes repetitive. On the woven established by the drums and bass the guitar is continuously working to produce a uninterrupted but heard yet speech . I forgot to mention that the band does not have a voice, the songs are instrumental. During the course of the piece the instruments appear unrelated to each other, uncertain about time and its division even if the product does not feel so bad. Towards the 12th minute, the song settles to a relaxation with space interventions that have become a super-classic among bands that breathe this air. The second piece, The Mute Machine opens with a seventies guitar wah as we have heard 14k. After a minute the song, which essentially corresponds to the styles already met in the previous track, seems to be over, but lasts over 18 minutes. In essence, over 30 minutes of nice music, hackneyed, played with excessive approximation (and with a quality of production to check) that do not lead anywhere, despite what happens with the swedish Hills, for example.
