E' solo da poco che mi sono - fortunatamente - avvicinato ai finlandesi Mr. Peter Hayden. Questo quintetto annovera i seguenti ragazzotti: L. Kivelä, JP. Koivisto, S. Kuosmanen, M. Marjamäki, T. Santamaa e V.Vatanen e, altrettanto fortunatamente, è piuttosto complicato spiegarvi cosa suonino. Il cd in questione è semplicemente composto di due tracce super-lunghe (ad ogni modo, mai lunghe come i grandiosi francesi Overmars); ma non è questo il punto. Faster Than Speed di Mr. peter Hayden ha: la ripetitività dei connazionali Circle, un suono che tradisce inequivocabilmente il metal finnico, vagamente il senso psichedelico dei Motorpsycho orchestrali, un sax dagli echi crimsoniani; eppure non sono nulla di tutto ciò. Tra l'altro, hanno una sufficiente padronanza dei rispettivi strumenti, il che, pur non essendo necessario, non guasta certo in quest'epoca di approssimazione; potrebbero fare scuola e doposcuola a tanti nomi più famosi. Se amate esclusivamente le cose classiche potrebbe non piacervi, ma se avete le palle piene delle solite cose allora non potete sbagliare. Occhio a Mr. Peter Hayden, potrebbe esplodere in qualsiasi momento. (Sono anche distribuiti in Italia dalla intraprendente nostrana Phonosphera !).

Only recently that I've - thankfully - approached the finns Mr. Peter Hayden. This quintet includes the following guys: L. Kivela, JP. Koivisto, S. Kuosmanen, M. Marjamäki, T. Santamaa and V.Vatanen and just as fortunately, is quite complicated to explain what they play. The CD is simply composed of two super-long tracks (however, never long as the great french Overmars), but that's not the point. Faster Than Speed ​​of Mr. Peter Hayden: got the repetitiveness of their neighbour Circle, a sound that reveals clearly the finnish metal, vaguely the psychedelic sense of the orchestral Motorpsycho, a sax that brings Crimson echoes, yet they are nothing of the kind. Among other things, they have a sufficient command of their instruments, which, although not necessary, certainly does not hurt in this era of approximation, they could show and after-school so many more famous names. If you love only those classic things might not like it, but if you're sick of the usual things then you can not go wrong. Put your eyes on Mr. Peter Hayden, it could explode at any moment. (They are also distributed in Italy by our local enterprising Phonosphera!).

Non è mica semplice recensire un disco dei Morkobot. Si fa presto a dire sono belli, sono brutti ecc. Ma iniziamo dall'incomincio...I Morkobot sono Lin, Lan e Len. (Italiani, non Cinesi) e presentano il loro quarto lavoro per la piemontese Supernatural Cat di Malleus (il noto grafico). Laciate stare ogni immaginazione di musica semplicemente descrivibile con accostamenti ad altre band, qui sarebbe veramente difficile. La musica è strumentale, lo stile è nervoso (si parla infatti di noise rock). Le distorsioni che illuminano i riff ripetitivi e dal sapore ultra moderno sono fredde, i suoni spostati sul registro medio acuto ed i ritmi serrati e schizofrenici. D'altronde, suonando con due bassi ed una batteria, non si poteva pretendere di creare qualcosa di molto sentito e ri-sentito. Insomma, è come se gli strumenti si dimenassero attorno ad un tempo, sottolineato dalla batteria, con le particolarità timbriche appena accennate. Certo, non possiamo pretendere di ascoltare il groove del rock più classico. Immaginate una sorta di Primus che suona in maniera ancora più autoreferente, un tuffo nevrotico e sincopato, un discorso robotico, super meccanizzato, futurista. Avete presente l'onomatopeicità del Futurismo...Sdeng ! Zang ! ecc...ecco, ci siamo. Accenni vagamente psychedelici di derivazione tecnologica. Chiudete gli occhi ed immaginate di trovari in una iper metropoli tra duecento anni. Ascoltate il suono della città e vedrete passeggiare il Morbo...

It's not easy to review a disk from Morkobot. It's easy to say they are beautiful, they are so ugly. But let's start from the beginning... The Morkobot are Lin, Lan and Len. (Italian, not Chinese) and they publish their fourth work for Supernatural Cat label, that is Malleus (the well-known graph). Just leave the imagination of music simply described with comparison to other bands, it would be very difficult. The music is instrumental, the style is nervous (noise rock). The distortions that illuminate the repetitive riffs and ultra modern taste are cold, moved to the middle and acute register, sounds and rhythms of tight schizophrenia. On the other hand, playing with two basses and drums, could not be expected to create something very sensitive and re-heard. In short, it is as if all the instruments wiggle around a click time, pointed out the battery, with the special timbre just mentioned. Of course, we can not expect to hear classic rock groove. Imagine a sort of Primus which sounds even more self-referential, neurotic and a dip syncopated, robotic speech, super-mechanized, futuristic. You know ... the onomatopeic Sdeng ! Zang! of Futurism?! So...here we go. Hints vaguely psychedelic, technology-based. Close your eyes and imagine that you are in the middle of a hyper city after two hundred years. Listen to the sound of the city and you'll walk around the Morbo (that is Disease)...
