I Grails vengono da Portland (OR), relazionati a vario titolo con gli OM, i Dolorean ed i grandi Holy Sons,  non sono mai stati un gruppo facile da collocare. Post-Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Doom da camera, Spaghetti  post-rock sono solo alcune delle definizioni che li hanno attraversati. Deep Politics esce l'8 marzo 2011 per la Temporary Residence creando un poco di delusione generale tra gli aficionados. La verità è che i Grails, con  questo album, si avvicinano a qualcosa che può essere definita avanguardia con versamenti psychedelici.  Immaginate un mix tra post rock, pop raffinato (all the Colors of the Dark), folk psichedelico con tratti di manipolazione elettronica di alcune sonorità (Corridors of Power) e qualcosa vicino alla dark ambient.

Il risultato è apprezzabile, musica sostanzialmente rilassante, non proprio allegra
che farà da sottofondo ai vostri momenti velati di tristezza...

The Grails are from Portland (OR), related in various ways with the OM, the great Holy Sons Dolorean, have never been an easy group to define. Post-Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Chamber Doom, Spaghetti Post-Rock, are just some of the definitions that they have crossed. Deep Politics, out March the 8th 2011 for the label Temporary Residence created a bit of general disappointment among their aficionados. The truth is that Grails, with this album, are closer to something that can be described as avantgarde with a psychedelic edge. Imagine a mix between post-rock, smart pop (All the Colors of the Dark), psychedelic folk with traces of some electronic manipulation of sound (Corridors of Power), and something close to dark ambient.

The result is welcome, relaxing music, basically, not really happy that will be the background to your moments of veiled sadness ...
