Siena Root - Far From the Sun

Far From the Sun (2008)

(Vinyl) Headspin (HSLP 312)

(CD) Transubstans (TRANS 034)

Il secondo pezzo, 'Waiting for the Sun,' richiama atmosfere orientali che condiscono chitarre più gentili rispetto all'opening track.

The first part could be confused for a cross between Montrose with Hagar, Deep Purple by Coverdale and the reverberations of Captain Beyond ... instead they are 'our' Siena Root ... the arrangement of the theme of the guitar with the third diatonic refer to something as the first heavy metal 80's, without taking the poses. The voice of Sartez Faraj [Sartez Abdulrahman] is sometimes waning, but with personality. The second piece, Waiting for the Sun, draws oriental atmospheres that seasoning guitar quiter than the opening track. A nice ballad that is appreciated for the particular voice, slightly distorted, immersed in a more sixties sound (the sitar lick is exactly what the Sonics did with 'Strychnine' ...). Then the keyboards bridge style reminiscent clear steps Deep Purple styled, while the voice sways between Jefferson Airplane and something of indie 80's rock and roll like Royal Trux. With the third song we're back in the mood of the first one... echoes of keyboard run grooves already digged by Black Sabbath second manner then they plane on the typical 60 colors ballads ... All tracks nicely oscillate between 60 and 70, now more rock and now more progressive, with steps taken by the deepest blues (Almost There), so that Two Steps Backwards might be a stoner song more bit lighter. A boogie rock (Wishing for More) never boring. The intro of 'The Summer is Old' could have been played by the Sleep first way, but much less energetic, the performance, however, repeats the usual ballad with accompaniment of flute ... then the energetic riffs is back mixed with Jethro Tull ... and so on until the end of the piece.

In short, the whole disc opens continuously situations 70s rock, progressive deviations, sixties ballad and various interpolations. If you love the retro sound, played well and with personality...buy this record!

Siena Root - Kaleidoscope

Kaledoscope (2006)
(Nasoni 049)

Great Song. I pezzi scorrono regalandoci ballate blues in chiaro sapore Leaf Hound, Jade Warrior, Skynyrd, Bachman Turner Overdrive and so on.

Same for the second full length that starts with a Good and Bad, slightly heavier than its predecessors. The riff recalls something like Led Zeppelin second manner... The piece is really appreciated ...soon slips into a ballad where the bass, strictly vintage, matches a guitar solo in the setting that reminds Achilles Last Stand of Led Zeppelin. Great Song, don't lose it.
The song ends with a major third from the guitar which reminds blues fading never trivial ... The pieces flow as blues ballads, giving us clear flavor of Leaf Hound, Jade Warrior, Skynyrd, Bachman Turner Overdrive and so on. Bhairavi Dhun it's an instrumental hymn of India, a classic 70's rock repertoire. (Mood resumed, for example, among others, even from the most 'modern' OM with 'God Is Good').
Crossing the Stratosphere offers moments of space-kraut that flows in usual ballads, and There and Back Again could be played by the Deep Purple and finally the last piece 'Reverberations' ia a echoing of Uriah Heep playing prog.
The album has a more prog and personal touch, better than the first.

Siena Root - A New Day Dawning

A New Day Dawning (2004)

2004 Nasoni 033
2004 Rage of Achilles iliad055
2004 Vinyl LP Nasoni 033
2005 Nasoni NASONICD033

The first full length offers song-form compositions in which they immediately come to mind Deep Purple Mark II and III. The guitars are never 'too big' matched by organ that continually emphasizes the six-string riffs. The pieces, all resting on a solid blues territory, are well executed and sway amongst Cream, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin with references to ballads like ZZ Top with the addition of keyboards (Fever). The Fender KG West are always in overdrive with wha steps already heard but never heavy. Imagine a stoner classic, but much softer, where the voice has its own reason instead of being sunk as in the psychedelic music. Drums, with its touch 'classic rock', is always slightly 'back', as is should be ... (Little Man).
