In assenza di recensioni e/o spiegazioni sul sito della phonosphera, prendo il cd sulla fiducia, visti i precedenti risultati dei romani Void Generator. L'ep si compone di due pezzi che sembrano ricalcare la durata del loro eccellente predecessore Phantom Hell, e comincio ad immaginare le cavalcate psichedeliche che mi aspettano...Mi ritrovo invece per le mani un disco diverso dal precedente, sempre space, meno rock ma più basato sull'improvvisazione. Apre l'ep con 'Stretched Sunlight', una lunga cavalcata che muove da un'aria orientaleggiante con tampura ed armonium in evidenza. Seguono delle tablas che segnano un ritmo sottolineato da un basso cupissimo e sopra ai quali vari strumenti si imbizzariscono a vario titolo. Chitarre 'out', clarinetto nervoso, pianoforte da jazz moderno. A dispetto della lunghezza del pezzo, questo si rinnova ad ogni personale intervento dei vari musicisti che accompagnano il quartetto base dei Void Generator. Synth, rumori ed effetti vari crescono fino ad una sorta di svolta rock inaspettata che chiude con un solo di chitarra da antologia. Il fade out è un gioiello da non perdere. Il secondo pezzo, Collision, è invece un live completamente improvvisato su groove space/psychedelico che rimanda a qualcosa di avanguardia tipico dei seventies, con vari movimenti dinamici. Un plauso ai Void che hanno il coraggio di pubblicare qualcosa suonato dal vivo, loro se lo possono permettere. Serie limitata per i non oltranzisti.

Without any review and/or explanation at the site of phonosphera, I take my CDs on trust, given the previousresults of the roman Void Generator. The ep consists of two pieces that seem to trace the length of their great predecessor Phantom Hell, and I begin to imagine the psychedelic ride waiting for me ... but I find myself on a different disc from the previous one, more space, less rock but more based on improvisation. The ep opens with 'Stretched Sunlight', a long ride that starts with an oriental tampura and harmonium mood in your face. Some tablas following marking a rhythm that are underlined by a very dark bass guitar, and on which various instruments agitate in various ways. 'Out' guitars, nervous clarinet , modern jazz piano. Despite the length of the song, this is renewed with every personal intervention of the various musicians who accompany the basis quartet of Void Generator. Synth, noises and other effects grow up to a kind of turning point that ended with an unexpected textbook performance rock guitar solo. The fade out is a gem not to be missed. The second track, Collision, is instead a totally improvised live groove of space/psychedelic edge that points to something typical of the seventies, with a variety of dynamic movements. A praise to the Void who have the boldness played live, they can afford it. Limited series, not for extremists.
