Curiose sono le vie della psichedelia...I tedeschi Electric Moon, che altri non sarebbero se non il signor Sula Bassana che detiene la Sulatron Records, incidono per la Nasoni, anch'essa tedesca. Completano l'organico Luzie Neudeck [aka Komet Lulu] (bass, vocals) e Pablo Carneval (drums). Autori di ben otto album in due anni (!), gli Electric Moon si sono ritagliati in poco tempo uno spazio all'interno della florida scena kraut-psychedelica tedesca ed europea. Apre la titletrack che ci fa immediatamente capire cosa stiamo ascoltando, una sorta di Hawkwind più moderni, a tinte più scure, quasi claustrofobiche. Fuzz, wha, voce 'indietro', echi di synth analogici in sottofondo ed eco a nastro immancabile. Dal minuto 11:30 il pezzo si incaponisce in effetti cosmici di varia natura per poi ripartire verso i 16:30. Sembra qualcosa dei Void Generator nelle loro evoluzioni più azzardate. Kleiner Knaller inizia con un bel gioco di delay chitarristico poi parte col riff (leggermente incerto sul beat...) per poi sfociare in evoluzioni wha già viste nel pezzo precedente, solo che qui il pezzo dura 5 minuti. Spaceman apre con uno space echo introduttivo che introduce un mood piuttosto scuro, sembra una costante del disco. Solo che anche qui la batteria fa un poco a pugni col tempo. Il ritmo è incalzante ed il platter inizia a delinearsi come piuttosto estremo. Verso i 5:30 il tiro si placa un poco ma un sottofondo di chitarra distorta ci rammenta che non è finita la tensione. Il pezzo, contrariamente alle mie aspettative si addolcisce verso la fine e scivola verso toni più onirici. Stardust Service e Feigenmonolog sono della stessa pasta. Un disco non esattamente 'tranquillo' che, a volte, appare un poco ripetitivo ma che vi farà viaggiare, soprattutto se avete assunto droghe allucinogene. Insomma, decidete voi, se ancora avete della buona erba per capodanno fumatela e fatemi sapere.

Authors of eight albums in two years (!), Electric Moon in a short time got a good exposure at the teutonic and european thriving kraut-psychedelic scene. Opens the title track, which immediately makes us understand what we are listening, a kind of modern Hawkwind, in darker colors, almost claustrophobic. Fuzz, wah, voice 'back', echoes in the background of analog synths and tape echo as a classic. From 11:30 minute the piece pegs into cosmic effects of various kinds and then set off towards 16:30. It seems something as the wildest Void Generator like side. Kleiner Knaller begins with a good delayed guitar game, then the riff (somewhat uncertain on the beat ...) then leads to wha evolutions already seen in the previous song, only here the song is 5 minutes long. Spaceman opens with an introductory space echo, which introduces a rather dark mood, it seems a constant in the disc. Except that here drums is slightly at odds with time too. The rhytm is relentless and the platter begins to emerge as rather extreme. Around 5:30 the mood dies down a little but a background of distorted guitar reminds us that the tension is not over. The piece, contrary to my expectations is softened towards the end and slips into dreamy tones. Stardust Service and Feigenmonolog are of the same cloth. A disc is not exactly the 'quiet' which at times seems a little repetitive but that will make you travel, especially if you have taken hallucinogenic drugs. In short, it's up to you, if you still have good grass for the New Year, smoke it and let me know.

I berlinesi Rotor presentano il loro disco live registrato vicino casa il 14 novembre del 2009. Tim (guitar), Marco (bass), Milan (drums) giungono così alla quinta release dal 2002 che ricomprende brani provenienti dagli ultimi due lavori (Rotor 3 e Rotor 4, rispettivamente 2010 e 2007). Il trio berlinese, che ha sempre proposto pezzi strumentali, si produce in un platter che suona molto bene e dal sicuro impatto. Nove pezzi che non lasciano molto spazio all'improvvisazione solistica quanto ad una prova di compattezza le cui sonorità, pur per alcuni versi assimilabili allo stoner, affondano le radici in qualcosa di più vecchio, a cavallo tra la fine degli anni 80 e l'inizio dei 90 (echi di Soundgarden in Hart am Wind). Il risultato è un disco che ci mostra le qualità esecutive dei Rotor e ci restituisce un buon groove finale, senza particolari apici degni di notazione particolare. Buono, veloce, roccioso.

Berliners Rotor have their live album recorded by the house on November 14th of 2009. Tim (guitar), Mark (bass), Milan (drums) thus arrive at the fifth release from 2002 which includes songs from the last two jobs (Rotor Rotor 3 and 4, respectively, 2010 and 2007). The Berlin trio, which has always featured instrumentals, is produced in a platter that sounds very good and safe from impact. Nine pieces that do not leave much room for improvisation as a soloist but sound-proof compact, in some ways similar to the stoner, rooted in something older, between the late 80's and early of 90 (echoes of Soundgarden Hart am Wind). The result is an album that shows the quality of executive Rotor and gives us a final good groove, no special quotes worthy of special notation. Good, fast, solid.

I romani Black Rainbows giungono al loro terzo album grazie ad una collaborazione tra la francese Long Fellow Deeds ed alla neonata Heavy Psych Sounds, anch'essa romana. Il cd, il cui titolo mi ricorda vagamente il colosso dei Mudhoney (superfuzzbigmuff), consiste di 10 tracce omogenee e ben fatte. (nella versione in vinile è presente una cover di Eddie Cochran). Rispetto ai precedenti lavori, la produzione è migliorata ed ha mantenuto una coerenza che mi suggerisce una continuità di tecnici che hanno messo mano alle varie release. I Black Rainbows, non so perché, sono stati spesso annoverati tra il maelstrom dell'enorme circuito stoner, ma di stoner non hanno nulla. Anzi, rispetto ai precedenti lavori, questo è sicuramente quello più pop oriented. Un susseguirsi continuo di forme-canzoni interrotte esclusivamente dalla traccia numero 3, Mastermind. Hanno perso quei piccoli rimasugli di psychedelia, infatti il lavoro delle tastiere è veramente minimo ed è da ascrivere a Dario di Gennaro. Due ritornelli e solo di chitarra, riff semplici, immediati e senza ulteriori contaminazioni. Nulla da scoprire tra le tracce, nulla da aggiungere ad un disco che, pur rimanendo un obiettivo a livello produttivo per molti gruppi italiani e non, non offre nulla di rilievo dal punto di vista stilistico ed artistico.

The Black Rainbows from Roma reach their third album, thanks to a collaboration between the French label Long Fellow Deeds and the newly formed Heavy Psych Sounds, also from Roma. The CD, whose title vaguely reminds me of the great Mudhoney (superfuzzbigmuff), consists of 10 homogeneous tracks and well made​​. (the vinyl version is provided with a cover of Eddie Cochran). Compared to previous work, the production has improved and has maintained a consistency that suggests to me a continuation of the technicians who had a hand in the various releases. The Black Rainbows, I do not know why, have often counted among the maelstrom of the huge stoner circuit, but have nothing of stoner. Indeed, compared to previous work, this is certainly the most pop-oriented. A continuous succession of forms-songs interrupted only by the track number 3, Mastermind. They lost those little scraps of psychedelia, in fact the work of the keyboardist is very minimal and is due to Dario di Gennaro. Two choruses and guitar solos, simple riffs, immediate and without further contamination. Nothing to be discovered between the tracks, nothing to add to an album that, while remaining a target production for many Italian and foreign groups, does not offer anything significant from the point of view of style and artistic.
