Nicklas Sørensen (guitar), Christian Becher Clausen (bass) e Christoffer Brøchmanns Christensen (drums) formano i Papir un paio di anni fa, registrano il loro primo album omonimo nel 2010 per la Red Tape Records ed il presente Stundum per la promettente neonata danese El Paraiso. Per la precisione, registrano i sei brani del disco, disponibile in triplo vinile ed in cd, nella cantina-studio del batterista del Causa Sui. Note biografiche a parte, i Papir sono essenzialmente una Jam Band che ricalca quanto di buono proposto in precedenza dagli stessi Causa Sui e dai connazionali Øresund Space Collective (con i quali hanno occasionalmente suonato). Dobbiamo immediatamente dire che l'album in questione è suonato meglio degli amici Causa Sui, non me ne vogliano...I pezzi girano sempre intorno ad atmosfere pentatonali, condite da ingredienti kraut e psych ma senza esagerare. Il tutto è sempre di stampo derivativo, sia chiaro, ma almeno non si corre il rischio di dover sopportare frustate alle proprie orecchie da corbellerie esecutive ascoltate in diversi dischi qui recensiti. Il disco è godibile, si apprezzano le piccole variazioni di sensazione al variare sia dei pezzi sia delle varie parti che li compongono, con piacevole massaggio per i nostri padiglioni auricolari. Immaginate sei lunghe improvvisazioni di chiaro stampo rock ed avrete i Papir. Nel mezzo di un filone di genere ormai abbastanza nutrito, io ve lo consiglio. (faccio pure una riflessione...i Papir stampano un triplo vinile, che costa assai. Ebbene, se fa lo stesso un gruppo italiano in Italia praticamente manda in bancarotta la propria etichetta perché venderanno solo agli amici. Allora due sono le cose, o siamo intelligenti noi che questi dischi li snobbiamo o saranno bravi i danesi...)
Nicklas Sørensen (guitar), Christian Clausen Becher (bass) and Christoffer Brøchmanns Christensen (drums) formed the Papir band a couple of years ago, they recorded their eponimous first album in 2010 for Red Tape Records and Stundum for this promising new danish El Paraiso Records. To be correct, they record the six tracks on the disc, available on CD and triple vinyl, in the Causa Sui drummer basement-studio. Biographical notes aside, the Papir are essentially a Jam Band which follows the good example given earlier by the same Causa Sui and by the compatriots Øresund Space Collective (with whom they occasionally played).. We must immediately say that the album in question is played better than their friends Causa Sui, sorry for that guys...The pieces always turn around pentatonic atmospheres, kraut and psych flavored ingredients but do not overdo. Everything is always derivative, it is clear, but at least you do not run the risk of having to endure whipping to your ears by esecution mistakes found in several releases listened and reviewed here. The album is enjoyable, you appreciate the small changes in sensation to vary both the pieces and the various parts that compose them, with a pleasant massage for our ears. Imagine six long improvisations of clear rock and you will have the Papir. In the middle of a load of such genre, large enough now, I feel to recommend you that. (I even thinking...Papir print a triple vinyl, which costs a lot. Well, if an italian band does the same in Italy virtually bankrupts their label because they sell only to friends. Then there are two things, or we're smart snubbing them that or danish are so good and smart...).
