Black Rainbows - Stellar Prophecy (2016)

      I romani Black Rainbows presentano Stellar Prophecy che ci offre delle leggere diferenze rispetto ai precedenti lavori.
      Benché il riffage rimanga il solito, il fuzz della chitarra è più vintage, almeno in alcune parti.
      Electrify è un pezzo senza sosta a la Monster Magnet, Woman un electro blues feel con un bel contorno di organo ed un bel solo di chitarra e wha, Golden Widow una sorta di space suite dalle atmosfere più rilassate che rimandano ancora ai Monster Magnet.

      Evil Snake ritorna all'interno di zone più stoner, It's Time To Die ci porta echi di Cactus e stoner più 'moderno', idem per Keep The Secret che rimanda a qualcosa dei Fu Manchu.
      Chiude The Travel che deve essere considerata la gemella di Golden Widow.

      Che dire di quest'album ?
      Sembra che i Black Rainbows abbiano imparato molto bene a confezionare un album di genere; tutto è già stato scritto, tutto è già sentito.
      Non potremmo mai dire che l'album sia brutto o mal confezionato, ma rimane l'amaro in bocca nella considerazione che ci si accosti qui e lì senza particolar segni distintivi. 

      Black Rainbows are back with Stellar Prophecy that give us some differences between their previous works.

      The riffage is the same but the fuzz is something vintage here and there.

      Electrify is a quite-less song a la Monster Magnet, Woman has an electro-blues feel with a nice organ  and a beautiful guitar solo with wha, Golden Widow a space suite, more relaxing: Monster Magnet again.

      Evil Snake is back at a stoner territory, It's Time To Die give us echoes of Cactus and 'modern' stoner, same for Keep The Secret that give us something of Fu Manchu.

      The records ends with The Travel that must be considered the twin of Golden Widow.

      What we can say about this album ?

      It seems that Black Rainbows learned very well to wrap such albums, it works to the fan/music lovers, but all is done earlier yet by some grand masters.

      We couldn't ever say that this is a bad album o badly tailored, but we remain with a bitter taste in ours mouth by considering that their approach is made by resemble here and there without a distinctive feature.

Causa Sui - Return To Sky (2016)

2016 El Paraiso Records

      Brava la El Paraiso che rimane senza dubbio una delle etichette più interessanti della scena europea e non. Grafica curata e mai banale, un occhio di riguardo al materiale e un brand di livello.

      Return To Sky dei Causa Sui appartiene a quel filone che oggigiorno viene definito 'jam', 'prog', 'psych' ecc.

      Piacevole il mood che ne esce ma ovviamente nulla di nuovo. Divagazioni stoner, suoni 'vecchi', atmosfere soft che imprvvisamente si accendono in dinamiche sixties, echi di Colour Haze ci accompagnano con calore.

      Che dire, qui i Causa Sui ripercorrono strade già ampiamente battute ma gli amanti del genere non disdegneranno affatto.

      Un disco col quale andare sul sicuro, consapevoli dei pregi e dei difetti della attuale scena di genere.

      Brava El Praiso Records that stands one of the most interesting European labels and even more. Very well-finished art, never common, a particular attention to the material and an high-end brand. 

      Return To Sky from Causa Sui belongs to the current that nowadays we will call 'jam', 'prog', 'psych' ecc.

      Nice the outcoming mood but nothing new, obviously. Stoner hints, old sounds, soft moods that suddenly turn into sixties dynamics, echoes of Colour Haze here and there lead us with warmth.

      What we can say, here Causa Sui hit common roads but genre lovers won't dislike for sure.

      A release to be safe with, aware of the merit and defects of the current genre scene.

Deadsmoke - Deadsmoke (2016)

2016 - Heavy Psych Sounds

      I Deadsmoke sono una sludge band italiana e incidono per la lanciatissima Heavy Psych Sounds.

Cosa dire dei Deadsmoke ? Nulla in particolare. Il suono è molto grosso e compresso, i riff monolitici, la voce straziata, qualche 'effetto' space.

      Per il resto il disco nulla toglie a quanto già detto da migliaia di altri gruppi sludge e/o simili.

      Stesso mood per tutto il disco, qualche stonatura endemica a gruppi di tal fatta, soli di chitarra (Liar Behind Me) che un principiante farebbe meglio e stop. Poi nulla di rilievo.

Gruppi che vanno ad ingrossare il calderone del trito e ritrito.

      Deadsmoke are an italian sludge band labeled for the rolling Heavy Psych Sounds.

What we can say about Deadsmoke ? Nothing in particular. A big heavy and compressed sound, monolithic riffs, agonizing vocals, some 'space' effects.

      For everything else the records give us nothing more than thousands gave us yet by sludge bands or something like that. 

      Same mood all over the release, some out-of-tune endemic for such bands, guitar solos (Liar Behind Me) that a beginner would do much better and nothing more, that nothing to mention.

      Such bands go to increase the cauldron of the obvious, trite and re-trite.

Temple Of Dust - Capricorn (2016)

      I Temple Of Dust sono italiani, tra Monza e Lecco nasce questo disco.

      Se pensate che questo sia il 'solito' disco stoner (cosa cazzo vorrà mai dire 'stoner', lo trovo dappertutto...) allora siete fuori strada. Questi sono i Temple Of Dust.

      Chitarra grossa, basso grande, voce grossa, bassa e ruvida, sicuramente al di fuori dello stoner. La voce calca i territori del metal gutturale, ma senza addentrarvisi completamente. 

      Il riffage non sarà certo il più originale dai tempi dei Primus, ma è potente e personale, riconoscibile e affidabile. M'hai detto niente...

      Distorsioni dal suono grande e personalizzato (non è solo un suono grosso e vintage) che hanno il rarissimo pregio di creare groove e coinvolgere.

      Tenete ben presente questa compagine perché potrebbero nascerne delle belle.

      Questo è uno tra i migliori album del 'genere' degli ultimi anni, provare per credere.

      Abbandonate le mode, i trend, i messaggi pubblicitari ed usate il cervello, allora i Temple ridurranno le vostre orecchie in Dust.

      Temple Of Dust are Italians, between Monza and Lecco  this release born.

      If you think that this is the common 'stoner' record so you are wrong (what the fuck 'stoner' means...I find it out everywhere...), this are the Temple Of Dust.

      Big guitar, big bass guitar, big, low and growly voice, far from stoner for sure. Vocals are close to the growling metal, without to be in it completely.

      Riffage won't be the most original since Primus, but it is powerful and personal, recognizable and reliable. There's so much to dig...

      Big and personal sounding distortions (not only big and vintage) that have the rare value to get you into the sweetest groove.

      Keep your eyes on this band because it could lead you to very beautiful things. This is one of the best records of the last years, give a try to believe it.

      Leave trands and adv, use you brain, so Temple Of Dust will reduce your ears to Dust.

Phonosphera Records doesn't fall short of expectations.
