I Torso consistono in quattro ragazzi austriaci - che rispondono ai nomi di Michael Jandrisevits - Guitar, Vocals, Bernhard Garger - Vocals, Guitar, Klaus Gulyas - Drums e Thomas Pint - Bass, i quali, pur non facendo gridare al miracolo meritano la nostra attenzione. Immaginate una base quasi-stoner con trame vocali più europee e linee tematiche fortemente influenzate dal root rock, aggiungete qualcosa di approccio jam e di esclusivamente personale, che fortunatamente mettono nel platter, ed avrete i Torso. Gli austriaci non sono particolarmente 'tirati' ma riescono a rendere un'idea del proprio punto di vista senza andare a scopiazzare sensa senso e quindi senza infilarsi in un calderone oramai affollatissimo di band stoner o heavy psych che dir si voglia. Intendiamoci, le trame ed i risultati sono certamente migliorabili, soprattutto da un punto di vista dinamico, ma non stiamo ascoltando il solito gruppo di esagitati simil-stoner cloni di 3/4 gruppi che da ben venti anni (e dico 20 !) suonano le stesse note. E' un po' come se un gruppo di rock classico di 40 anni fa si esprimesse oggi raccogliendo inevitabilmente gli umori fuoriusciti nel frattempo.

Torso consist of four Austrian guys - who respond to the names of Michael Jandrisevits - Guitar, Vocals, Bernhard Garger - Vocals, Guitar, Klaus Gulyas - Drums and Thomas Pint - Bass, who, although not represent a miracle, deserve our attention. Imagine a quasi-stoner base with more European voice frames and thematic lines strongly influenced by root rock, add something of jam approaching and even some purely personal approach, which fortunately they put in the platter, and you'll have the Torso. The Austrians are not particularly 'strong and heavy' but manage to make an impression of your own point of view without going to a nonsensical copy and therefore without crawling into a cauldron of band now called stoner, heavy psych or whatever you want. Mind you, the plots and the results are certainly room for improvement, especially from the point of view of the musical dynamic, but we're not listening the usual group of agitated stoner-like clones of 3/4 groups who for twenty years (and I mean 20!) play the same notes. It 'sa bit like a classic rock band 40 years ago is now gathering inevitably express the mood in the meantime escaped.
